“Save thyself, and come down from the cross.”
‭‭Mark‬ ‭15:30‬ ‭KJV‬‬
These were the words said by the mocking crowd as Jesus hung upon the cross. But if He had come down, then we would have no salvation. Today the cry of modern religion is very similar. “Away with the cross!” they say. But Jesus said we must take up our cross and follow Him. And unless we bear that cross, there is no salvation for us. No cross means no crown.

“Trust in the Lord with all thine heart…”

Wholehearted trust is what God desires from each of us. The kind of child like trust that hears and reads His Word, believes it and acts on it. This trust comes because we know Him and have found Him to be completely trustworthy. And once we trust God like this, perfect peace comes to our hearts. ‘Tis so sweet to trust in Jesus, Oh for grace to trust Him more’

“…If ye do return unto the Lord with all your hearts, then put away the strange gods…among you, and prepare your hearts unto the Lord, and serve him only: and he will deliver you…”
‭‭1 Samuel‬ ‭7:3‬ ‭KJV‬‬
God’s method for spiritual blessing has never changed. We must put away hindrances and prepare our hearts, and put Him first in our lives. Then, He will deliver.

“For He satisfieth the longing soul, and filleth the hungry soul with goodness.”
‭‭Psalms‬ ‭107:9‬ ‭KJV‬‬
The key to being satisfied is to seek in the right direction. Most people seek in the world and fleshy things to satisfy them. But the soul can only be satisfied by the One Who created it. Only God Himself can fill and completely satisfy that inward longing of our souls. May we seek Him with all of our hearts.

“All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way; and the Lord hath laid on him the iniquity of us all.”
‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭53:6‬ ‭KJV‬‬
Because of our sin, a price had to be paid. Either we would suffer eternally, or God would make a way. Thank God that Jesus was willing to become our Sin Bearer! He took all our sins upon Him so we could be restored to relationship with our Father in Heaven.

“The people that walked in darkness have seen a great light..”Isa‬ ‭9:2‬ ‭KJV‬‬
We all once walked in the darkness of sin. Our minds were darkened to believe that sin and having our own selfish desires would satisfy us. But thank God, one day the Light of Christ shined upon our path! Then as we opened our heart to Him, by faith, He came to live in our hearts. And now, what a joy it is to walk in His Light.

As we begin a New Year, may we dwell on these first 4 words of the Bible. Everything in our existence hinges on this. But do we place God at each beginning we make? He should be in the beginning of every day, every choice and all that we do. Begin this year with God and He will bless. Happy New Year
