“To give light to them that sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the way of peace.” Luke‬ ‭1:79‬ ‭KJV‬‬. These words were spoken about Jesus, the ‘Dayspring from on high’ Who has come to this world. What a wonderful thing that He comes to shine His light upon the dark places that we pass through. Sometimes when we suffer loss we find ourselves in death’s shadow. The pain of separation from those we love often casts a long shadow that can be difficult to escape from. Days go by and we wonder how long will this be? When it comes to the darkness of sin, the Light of Christ comes as a blaze of glory. But in these times of loss we learn that Jesus comes to us with His soft and gentle light. He knows our pain and suffering and understands exactly what we need and how to minister to our hurting souls. His blessed light reminds us that there is hope, that it is better farther on. So even when we are walking through the valley of the shadow of death, let us be looking for the the soft and gentle light of Christ that will lead us in the way of peace. By His grace, may we always be receptive to the light He shines on our pathway.
