“But as for you, you meant evil against me; but God meant it for good…” And he comforted them and spoke kindly to them.” Genesis 50:20-21 NKJV. This passage reveals that Joseph had grown in his relationship with God to where he could leave the outcome in God’s hands. He was able to see God’s providential ruling over all of the difficult circumstances of his life. He knew that his brother’s wicked act of selling him into slavery had been overruled by God and used for good. And now, the same brothers who had intended evil against him, he is able to treat with love and kindness. This is a great example for us as we deal with difficult people in this world, even those who intend evil against us. Our call is to have this same Christlike spirit in us like Joseph had. May we have that strong faith in God to believe that He is in control and able to work all things for our good. And by God’s grace let us love others as He loves us. As we do, we can be sure that our Heavenly Father will take care of us whatever comes our way.
