“One thing have I desired from the Lord, that will I seek after, that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord…” Psalm 27:4 KJV. David went through some difficult times when he could not come to the Tabernacle to worship God. His heart grieved because he loved God and longed to be in God’s presence. It was there that he could behold the beauty of the Lord as he was reminded of God’s goodness and mercy. Many of God’s children face similar things today. They are unable to go to church, but their soul longs to worship God, be with His people and enjoy the blessing of His sweet presence. They desire to be in God’s house where they can hear His Word and be reminded of the beauty of our God. But how blessed we are to have this opportunity each day, if we will only take the time. We can get alone with our Father and open our heart to His Word. We can look upon the majesty of His creation above us and all around us. We can open our eyes to see the beauty of what He has done through His Son Jesus Christ. We can look upon our Blessed Saviour and know the personal reality of what the songwriter expressed in song: ‘He’s the Lily of the Valley, the Bright and Morning Star, He’s the fairest of ten thousand to my soul’. Let us take time daily to worship our Lord and we will discover how beautiful He is.
