“And in the fourth watch of the night Jesus went unto them, walking on the sea.” Matthew‬ ‭14‬:‭25‬ ‭KJV‬‬. As we consider this familiar passage we recall that the disciples were out on the lake in a terrible storm. It was so bad they were fearful for their lives. They had no power against the raging waters. And yet, here is Jesus walking on the water to them. But let us ask, why did He do this? Why didn’t He simply rebuke the wind and waves and make the sea calm, as He did in another place? But the reality was, Jesus was teaching them a powerful lesson that we all should learn. The water was the thing that threatened those men. The water was what they feared. They knew that it was a real possibility they could drown in the water. But in walking on the water, Jesus was demonstrating to them, “That the very thing you fear I am already reigning over.” And He wants us to know today when we face the storms of life: “That big problem you have that you have no control over, I have authority over it. That thing which you think is over your head, is under My feet.” Let this lesson sink deeply into our hearts. There is nothing we will ever face that is too difficult for our Lord. There is no enemy that comes against us, that He has not already defeated. Christian friend, whatever is over your head, is under His feet.
