“The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: And the knowledge of the holy is understanding.” Proverbs‬ ‭9‬:‭10‬ ‭KJV‬‬. As we acknowledge these words we are reminded that the life of sin is a one of foolishness. When we lived in sin, we continually did things that caused us damage and brought heartache. In our foolishness we sowed the seeds of our own destruction. But when God, in His great mercy, gave us a new spiritual beginning in Jesus Christ, it meant we had a change in our fundamental attitude towards God. We began to have the proper attitude of a child to a loving Father. We began to reverence and respect God for Who He is. It also meant He was bringing a radical change into our hearts so we could begin to live according to His divine wisdom. Today, it seems that most of this religious generation has gotten away from this aspect Christian experience. But having a proper fear and reverence for God is essential to starting spiritual life. We must recognize that all power and authority belongs to God. He is not a man who simply offers another opinion. Rather, He is the Almighty, Sovereign King of glory Who deserves our reverence, respect and humble obedience. And above all, when we learn of His great, sacrificial love for us, we will understand He is worthy of our love and devotion.
