(Part 1) “Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone: but if it die, it bringeth forth much fruit.” John‬ ‭12‬:‭24‬ ‭KJV‬‬. While the followers of Jesus were looking at the opportunity and potential before Jesus on a human level, He knew the far greater potential when His life was laid down on the cross. They were seeing only the possibilities for things pertaining to physical life, while Jesus saw the unseen harvest that would come from His death. And how thankful we should be that He did not choose the quick and easy path of fulfilling limited human prospects. Instead, He became that kernel of wheat which fell into the ground and died. He chose to humble Himself to the death of the cross, which would bring a far greater harvest than anything He could achieve humanly. Today, the emphasis of our world is to fulfill everything we can on a physical and material level. But as God’s people we should understand, that the hidden, spiritual potential God sees in us will far exceed anything we might achieve through our human resources. All of the fleeting glory we get in this world will soon mean nothing. But to become a vessel God can use and work through will produce a spiritual harvest that will make a difference eternally. Let us choose the better part.
