And Asa cried out to the LORD his God, and said, “ LORD, it is nothing for You to help, whether with many or with those who have no power; help us, O LORD our God, for we rest on You, and in Your name we go against this multitude…” II Chronicles‬ ‭14:11‬ ‭NKJV‬‬. King Asa was crying out to God for help, because a formidable enemy army was coming against them. But the key to his prayer is what he meant in these words: “for we rest on You, and in Your name we go…” The reality is, God will always help those who have placed their faith and hope in Him. This is what it means to rest on Him. It means we understand that the battle is too big for us, our enemy is too strong, and so we are looking to the One Who is greater than all. It means we have humbled ourselves to leave the battle in God’s hands, because we know He will not fail. And only then can we go forward in His name. Only then can we go forward with peace and rest in our souls and be assured of victory. May we understand, that every spiritual failure and defeat we suffer, is because we do not rest on Him, and we try to fight the battles in our own strength. God will always bring victory, when we rest on Him.
