“And He that sent Me is with Me: the Father hath not left Me alone; for I do always those things that please Him.” John‬ ‭8:29‬ ‭KJV‬‬. True salvation has been described in many different ways. Vast doctrinal schemes and systems of theology have been developed by men to try to bring understanding to it. But Jesus closes this verse with a profound statement of what it means to have a genuine relationship with God. It means doing those things that please God. It involves having a desire to please God, seeking to learn how to please Him, and striving in everything we do to please our Father. Modern religion has mostly ignored this vital aspect of true salvation. Today, as people listen to watered down ideas about the Gospel, they are left to think that because they ‘believe’ a few things, they can then go on living their lives as they please. But may we understand this simple but essential truth, that until we have a desire to live our lives to please God, we know nothing of a real relationship with God. And may we humble ourselves to ask God, “Father give me a whole hearted desire to please You”.
