”And she said, The Philistines be upon thee, Samson. And he awoke out of his sleep, and said, I will go out as at other times before, and shake myself. And he wist not that the LORD was departed from him.”Judges‬ ‭16‬:‭20‬ ‭KJV‬‬. The story of Samson teaches us that certain awakenings are usually traumatic, but very necessary in our journey, especially if we have slipped or strayed from the right path. Samson had forgotten that the strength that made him invincible against the Philistines did not come from himself, nor had he acquired it as a result of long and effective training. His strength came from God who had given it to him to fulfill a purpose. He discovered with bitterness that this gift was not for life, he was subject to obedience to Him whose commandments have not changed nor are they negotiable. The consequence: God turned away from him. This story brings us bitter, but useful lessons that we can take advantage of so that the same thing does not happen to us. Let us remember that “Every perfect gift comes down from the Father of lights, in whom there is no variation or shadow of turning. (James 1: 17) to make us more effective in his Kingdom. Let us use them knowing that whoever granted them to us expects obedience above everything, and thus his Holy Spirit will never depart from us.
