“And Jabez called on the God of Israel, saying, Oh that thou wouldest bless me indeed, and enlarge my coast,…” 1 Chronicles‬ ‭4:10‬ ‭KJV‬‬. As we read Jabez’s prayer, we are reminded that “these things were written for our example”. We see that his desire and request for more land physically, should be our desire spiritually. While it is true he was living in the good land, the land of promise, yet he would not be content with just a little. He wanted more so he could be more fruitful to be able to bless God and others. One of the things the church needs today is a ‘holy discontent’ about spiritual things. We need to hunger and thirst for more of what God has for us! We need to have this desire like Jabez, for more of the good land spiritually. No matter where we are spiritually, God has so much more for each of us! Let us ask God today, To fan the flame of holy desire in our souls! Lord, enlarge our hearts with more of Your love. Enlarge our prayer lives till we become true intercessors. Enlarge our service and influence for Thee. Enlarge our outreach to needy souls. Let us not become content with just a little when our God has so much more to give.
