“Then shalt Thou be pleased…”Psalms‬ ‭51:19‬ ‭KJV‬‬. Most believers recognize Psalm 51 as the great psalm of repentance. In it we learn so much about the true attitude of heart in real repentance towards God. But in this closing verse of the psalm we see something that is usually overlooked. We find that the result of repentance is a genuine desire to please God. Repentance is a turning away from sin, not only because sin brings harm and eternal ruin into our own lives, but most of all because sin displeases our Holy God. Sin grieves the loving heart of our Heavenly Father. So when a person is convicted by the Holy Spirit and comes to true repentance, they ALWAYS desire to live a life that pleases God. No one should deceive themselves and imagine they are right with God merely because they believe a few religious ideas. Real salvation is always accompanied by real repentance! And real repentance always results in a life that desires and seeks to please God first and above all else. Can we honestly say to ourselves, that we are living our lives to please God in all things? Can we say of each activity we partake in, “Then shalt Thou be pleased?” That is the only life God can truly bless and use.
