“Awake to righteousness, and sin not; for some have not the knowledge of God…” 1 Corinthians‬ ‭15:34‬ ‭KJV‬‬. When a person truly receives personal knowledge of God, there is a spiritual awakening in the heart and mind. They wake up to the truth that God is a Holy God and wants a holy people. They wake up to the reality that we have no goodness of our own, “that all our righteousness is like filthy rags” (Isa. 64:6). The Holy Spirit awakens in us a recognition of our need for the righteousness of Christ. And thank God we learn in His Word that He promises to clothe us with His righteousness. We wake up to the truth that we have no strength nor ability in ourselves to live a holy life and walk in righteousness. But then, through God’s Word, we awake to the truth that Jesus Christ will live in us and impart His own nature to us, as we become willing to let Him be Lord of all in us! So in this confused religious age where most church people are asleep spiritually, let us wake up to the truth of righteousness and by God’s grace, sin not. Let’s experience the practical and daily reality of being clothed with the righteousness of Christ in everything we do and say. And remember, what we are clothed in is what others see.
