“And Saul said, Let us go down after the Philistines by night, and spoil them until the morning light, and let us not leave a man of them. And they said, Do whatsoever seemeth good unto thee. Then said the priest, Let us draw near hither unto God.” ‭‭1 Samuel‬ ‭14:36‬ ‭KJV‬‬. This was another occasion in which King Saul was ready to do his own will without first seeking God. And then, as people are prone to do when they blindly follow someone in leadership, they encouraged him to ‘do what seems good to you’. But thank God there was a man of God there willing to speak up! He reminded Saul that we should first draw near to God. We should find out what it is that God wants us to do. Today, the cry of our backslid nation is to ‘do whatever seems right to you’. Or, if it feels good do it. But there is great danger when we leave God out of our lives and ignore His divine will. More than ever, God’s people need to pause, before everything we do, and draw near to God! Seek His face and humbly ask Him to reveal His will to us. And help us Lord, to humble ourselves to accept and walk in Your will.
