“For then shalt thou have thy delight in the Almighty, and shalt lift up thy face unto God.” Job‬ ‭22:26‬ ‭KJV‬‬. The speaker is carrying on his thought of a soul that has humbly returned to God and put away sin. And as always, God’s blessings begin to follow. But too many think of blessings only in the outward sense. They rejoice that God is providing their physical and material needs. They are happy that they have a good job and a healthy family. And of course, all of that is good. But in this verse we find one of the greatest blessings of a true child of God. And that is, we find our hearts delight in God! It’s not the perishing things of this world we delight in. It’s not physical health or family or anything that can pass away. Rather, the greatest joy we have, our greatest delight is in knowing God as our Heavenly Father! For us to be able to lift our face to Him day by day, and have sweet fellowship with our Lord and Saviour is so much more than this world can ever give. And thank God, even when all else passes away, we can still find our eternal joy in Him. Let us live now in the experience of this joy. May Jesus Christ be so precious to our souls, that He truly is our ‘Pearl of great price’.
