“And Gideon said unto him, Oh my Lord, if the LORD be with us, why then is all this befallen us? and where be all His miracles which our fathers told us of, saying, Did not the LORD bring us up from Egypt? but now the LORD hath forsaken us…” Judges‬ ‭6‬:‭13‬ ‭KJV‬‬. After Israel had cried out to God for help, God sends an angel to Gideon. He tells him, “The Lord is with you”. But then, like so many today, Gideon struggles to see how this could be true with all of the troubles that have come on them. This was an error in Gideon’s thinking even as it is with most people today. Even though Gideon’s people had forsaken God, yet God had not forsaken them. We should all grasp this simple but profound truth, GOD IS WITH ME. No matter how difficult the circumstances around me, GOD IS WITH ME. On the dark and cloudy days, GOD IS WITH ME. When my heart is broken, GOD IS WITH ME. He is not with me because of how things are going. He is with me because He promised He would be. He is with me because, even when I forget, He knows that I need Him. When we obey, He is with us for fellowship and friendship. But even when we go astray, He is still with us. Only then, He is with us for correction. Let us walk as those who know, ‘Surely the Lord is with me’.
