Part 3 ”He healeth the broken in heart, and bindeth up their wounds.”Psalm‬ ‭147‬:‭3‬ ‭KJV‬‬. As the previous verse speaks of the Lord gathering the outcasts, we should understand that our gracious Saviour always gathers them for a purpose. He does not bring them into His family to leave them as they were, broken and wounded from sin. Rather, His purpose is to bind up their wounds so they can be healed and restored. When Jesus spoke in Luke 4:18, He said that He was sent to heal the broken hearted. Because He knows the brokenness that sin brings, this has always been a part of His purpose in seeking lost souls. And because we live in a world so filled with heartache, this is part of His ongoing work in and through His spiritual family. All around us we see broken hearts and lives. From the old to the young, souls are wounded and suffering because of the tragic consequences of sin. But let us realize, we cannot help them in our strength. The reality is, no one but Jesus can do this work. None of us have the power and wisdom to heal broken hearts. So let us learn that our job is to help bring souls to Jesus, Who is the Great Physician. By His grace, we are to be His gatherers who bring the outcasts, broken and wounded, to our Saviour Who is able to heal and restore.
